2. Purpose of processing

The personal data you provide by WhatsApp, email, phone or through this website is used to:

• Handle your enquiry and respond to your request for information.
• Formalise and carry out the professional engagement (engagement letter, legal advice, management or representation services, as applicable).
• Administrative, accounting and tax management arising from the professional relationship.
• Communications necessary to follow up on the matter you entrust to me.

3. Legal basis

Processing is based on:

• Your consent, given by voluntarily providing your data (Art. 6.1.a GDPR).
• Performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps taken at your request, when you ask for a quote or engage a service (Art. 6.1.b GDPR).
• Compliance with legal obligations that apply to me as a lawyer: tax, accounting and professional-conduct obligations (Art. 6.1.c GDPR).

4. Use of artificial intelligence tools

To work more efficiently I use artificial intelligence tools as a support in tasks such as researching and organising information, drafting document drafts, reviewing documentation, or writing informational content.

5. Data retention

I keep your data for as long as the professional relationship lasts and, once it has ended, for the periods legally required to address any tax, accounting or professional-liability matters (generally up to 6 years from the end of the matter), unless a specific rule requires a different period.

6. Recipients and data sharing

I do not share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. It may be accessed, when necessary to handle the matter you entrust to me, by: notaries, land registries, the Spanish state or regional tax authorities, courts and tribunals, the Barcelona Bar Association, or my professional civil-liability insurer.

My technology service providers — web hosting, email, and the case-management and artificial intelligence tools referred to above — may also process your data as processors (Art. 28 GDPR), under the corresponding contractual confidentiality and security safeguards.

7. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability at any time by writing to danielmatias@matiasabogados.com, providing proof of identity.

If you believe the processing of your data does not comply with the applicable rules, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).

8. Professional secrecy

Beyond this data-protection framework, all information you provide is also protected by the lawyer's duty of professional secrecy (Art. 542.3 of the Spanish Organic Law on the Judiciary and the General Statute of the Spanish Legal Profession), which reinforces your confidentiality beyond what GDPR requires.
